YOUR FIVE-DAY STARTING POINT

A trip with time to enjoy it.

Add a contrasting area, one major booked visit and a gentle final plan.

  1. 01

    Arrive and learn your station

Choose a first meal near your base. Save the hotel address and correct station exit offline; Tokyo arrival airports are not interchangeable, so check the exact onward route.

  2. 02

Asakusa, then Ueno if you feel like it

Start around Sensoji and the Asakusa streets, observing temple etiquette. After lunch, choose Ueno Park and one museum if hours fit, or stay by the river. You do not need every east-side stop.

  3. 03

    Meiji Jingu, Harajuku and Shibuya

Use a west-side day for Meiji Jingu and Harajuku, then continue toward Shibuya for the crossing and a meal. An observatory is optional and requires its own current admission check.

  4. 04

Give one interest its own day

Pick a museum, a booked experience or time around Shinjuku. A theme-park or distant outing replaces this day; do not layer it on top of several neighborhoods. Keep an indoor alternative for rain.

  5. 05

    One neighborhood, then the airport

Return to a nearby favorite if your departure allows. Retrieve luggage and follow the route for your actual airport and terminal, leaving room for the rail transfer.

When this plan fits

This is a flexible sightseeing plan. Match opening calendars, local weather and your group’s walking comfort before fixing the dates.

Months to consider: Apr, May, Jun, Sep, Oct. This is planning guidance, not a guarantee of weather, conditions or lower prices.

Choose your base.

Shinjuku

A lively base with several rail directions and onward connections.

The tradeoff: Allow time for the station, the correct exit and the final hotel walk.

Ueno or Asakusa

A stay centered on older-city atmosphere, museums or northeastern Tokyo.

The tradeoff: Check the airport route and repeated journeys toward the western neighborhoods.

Tokyo Station or Nihombashi area

An arrival or onward-rail plan with a useful central position.

The tradeoff: Compare room size and the actual station exit rather than the district label.

Getting there

Confirm HND or NRT and the actual arrival terminal. Compare the full airport-to-hotel route, service times and last walk with bags.

Book or check first

  • Any experience with limited date-specific entry.
  • A room that fits all travelers and the required beds.

Price the whole trip

  • Compare the final accommodation total for the same dates, guests and room type, including mandatory fees.
  • Add airport journeys, local transport and any car parking or fuel. Check baggage costs before choosing the flight.
  • Budget meals and only the admissions or experiences you actually want. Check whether your chosen tour already includes a ticket.
  • Read cancellation and change conditions separately for each booking. Keep a little uncommitted time for weather or delays.

Small details that make a better trip

Leave room for meals, travel between stops and a weather alternative. Confirm opening hours, accessibility, inclusions and cancellation terms for the actual option you choose.
